Mac & Cheese facts
Thomas
Jefferson is
credited with introducing macaroni to the United States.
It seems that he fell in love with a certain dish he sampled
in Naples while serving as the U.S. Ambassador to France.
In fact, he promptly ordered crates of "maccaroni,"
along with a pasta-making machine, sent back to the States.
"Macaroni
and Cheese" is on the Top 10 list of childrens
favorite foods? Well it surrre isssss! It's everybody's
childhood favorite and its been served since the late
1700's.
In
18th century England, macaroni was a synonym for perfection
and excellence. That's why, for example, the feather in
Yankee Doodle's cap was called "macaroni."
In fact, the word "macaroni" means "dearest
darlings" in Italian.

Mac & Cheese
with peppers,
oinions tomatos and bacon.
Original
recipe yield: 6 servings.
INGREDIENTS:

2 (7.25 ounce) packages dry macaroni and cheese
*Use Canola Harvest Margarine
- 1
green bell pepper, chopped
- 1
onion, chopped
- 1
large tomato, chopped
- 1
pound bacon - cooked and crumbled
DIRECTIONS:
1.
Prepare both boxes of macaroni and cheese according to
package directions.
2. Meanwhile, in a large bowl mix together the chopped
bell green pepper, onion, tomato, and crumbled bacon.
You
may want to decorate the top with slices of Tomato and
Pepper.
3.
Mix in prepared macaroni and cheese to large bowl with
vegetables and bacon. Stir to incorporate ingredients
evenly. Pour into a 9x13 inch baking dish.
4. Bake in a preheated 350 degree F (175 degree C) oven
for 45 to 60 minutes, or until crispy on top. Serve warm.
